Warehouses with logistics services in Hungary

A warehouse with logistics services is run for you by its operator, a third-party logistics provider (3PL): you pay for the space and the work you use, often per pallet, instead of leasing a hall and hiring staff. It suits companies entering Hungary, seasonal businesses and anyone who wants to test a market before committing to a lease.

How it works

In a standard lease you rent a hall and run it yourself. With logistics services the operator stores your goods in its own warehouse and handles them with its own people, systems and equipment. Typical services include:

  • Receiving and storage: unloading, checking, labelling and storing goods on pallets, shelves or in bulk.
  • Order picking and packing, including e-commerce orders of single items.
  • Value-added services: kitting, repacking, labelling in Hungarian, returns handling.
  • Customs and excise: bonded storage and customs clearance with some operators.
  • Transport: delivery to shops and customers in Hungary and abroad, often by the operator's own fleet.
  • Special goods: temperature-controlled, hazardous or high-value storage, where the operator holds the permits.

Pricing is usually per pallet place per week or month, plus a fee per pallet in and out and for picking, rather than a rent per square metre. Some operators also let whole halls, in which case rents are similar to Class A space.

Where you find them

Operators work across the country, often at motorway junctions:

  • Around Budapest: Waberer's runs large warehouses in Ecser, Páty and the BILK; Gyál has operators with hazardous-goods storage, and Fót has HTNS and MASPED.
  • On the M1 towards Vienna: in Győr, Intertranscoop and Hungarian Automotive Logistics; at Hegyeshalom, near the Austrian border, a large operator offers storage with full logistics.
  • On the M3: a similar operation in Hatvan, and storage with services around Miskolc.
  • Regional hubs: Tatabánya, Nagyigmánd, Jászberény, Nagykanizsa and Debrecen, where Waberer's has built a new logistics park.

Who it suits

  • A company new to Hungary that wants a local stock without its own legal entity, staff or warehouse system.
  • A seasonal or fast-growing business, which pays only for the space it uses each month.
  • E-commerce sellers who need picking and parcel dispatch.
  • Manufacturers' suppliers keeping a buffer stock near a plant, for example in Győr or Kecskemét.

What to ask an operator

Ask for the full price per pallet, including handling in and out, picking and any minimum monthly fee. Check the warehouse management system and how you see your stock online, the operator's insurance and liability per pallet, the cut-off time for same-day dispatch, and the notice period. If you store regulated goods, ask for the permit.

Frequently asked questions

Can I rent just a few pallet places?

Yes. Many operators take small volumes, though some set a monthly minimum.

Is it cheaper than leasing my own warehouse?

For small or variable volumes, usually yes. Once you fill a hall all year with your own staff, a lease often costs less.

Can the operator handle customs?

Some can, with bonded storage and customs agents on site. Ask before you sign if you import from outside the EU.
